New Art

Collaboration

I thought I'll give my Botanical Art a modern makeover. Using images of my original work, I've layered it with fun graphics that add more information and a sense of lightheartedness.

Sharing the art space is a joy for me and my collaborators . It's invigorating , it's like visual jazz. The resulting artwork is more alive and visually engaging.

The process involves writing our stream of thought, doodling on paper, and scanning. I combine everything in an image editing tool on the computer. The result is a digital asset that can be printed and shared virtually, bridging a traditional artform with our current culture of artmaking.

Erigeron New Art

My daughter collaborated with me on this project. It is fun to see what we each come up with.

Our doodles provide more context and playfulness.

Nepenthes New Art

Gallery visitors became my collaborators in this project. I invited them to consider what they were seeing and to express their thoughts and emotions on scraps of paper which was all I had at the gallery.

They were amazed they could react emotionally from observing the artwork and I was amazed as well.

I combined their responses with a scan of the original painting. Somehow I feel the notes amplify what they felt and the new art that emerged is the richer for it.
